Chicken Masala

A regular style chicken gravy... Spicy, hot and has that perfect taste which goes well with any Indian bread.
Anyone can easily prepare this recipe... you can actually call it a bachelors recipe. Freshers must try it!


Ingredients:

  1. Chicken  --  1 kg
  2. Onions  --  2 sliced
  3. Tomatoes  --  2 big sliced
  4. Ginger and Garlic crushed  --  1tablespoon
  5. Black Pepper crushed  --  1tsp
  6. Green Chillies  --  3 slit
  7. Turmeric powder  --  1/2 tsp
  8. Chilli Powder  --  1 1/2 tsp
  9. Coriander Powder  --  3tsp
  10. Garam masala powder  --  1/2 tsp
  11. Chotti Elaichi/Green Cardamoms  --  2 crushed
  12. Curd/Yoghurt  --  2 tablespoon
  13. Oil  --  2 tablespoon
  14. Salt to taste
  15. Curry leaves and coriander leaves to garnish.

Method:
  • Marinate the chicken with a little of turmeric, a little of chilli powder and a little of coriander powder from the above mentioned quantity. Just add half of the above mentioned quantity.
  • Add curd, crushed pepper, crushed green cardamoms and salt to chicken and marinate it well for about 4 hours.
  • Now heat the kadai and add oil. When the oil is really hot add the sliced onions and saute well.
  • Now add the ginger and garlic paste and saute well.
  • Now add the green chillies and saute till its nicely done.
  • Next add the tomatoes, and rest of the masalas i.e, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and saute well till the oil separates.
  • Now its time to add that marinated gorgeous chicken mix it well till all the masala is coated nicely in chicken.
  • Lower the flame and let it cook slowly. Put the lid and cook.
  • Do not add water to the chicken it will have correct consistency of gravy.
  • You can take off the lid and saute in high flame for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Check for salt and add if needed.
  • Garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves and serve hot with chapatis, rotis or rice.
