Sago Kichdi (Sabudana Kichdi)

Sago Kichdi is a simple recipe mostly it is prepared during fasting. I had tasted this recipe from my school friends in Mumbai, it was very tasty and I tried this recipe many times but though simple it would either not cook that is it would be too rubbery texture or it would be too sticky and then from one of mom's friend told us that sago should be first washed 2 or 3 times nicely and then soak the sago for atleast 3-4 hours by adding water just till one inch. So that was the secret it would soak the water completely and you get that perfect texture.

Ingredients:

  1. Soaked sago  --  2 cup
  2. Green Chillies  --  3-4 chopped
  3. Jeera  --  1tsp
  4. Curry Leaves  --  2-3 twigs
  5. Cubed Potatoes  --  1
  6. Sugar  --  1 tsp
  7. Crushed Peanuts  --  2 tablespoon
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Oil  --  1 tablespoon
Method:
  • Heat oil in a kadai crackle jeera and then add green chillies and fry them.
  • Add the curry leaves along with green chillies.
  • Now add the potato cubes and fry them till its soft.
  • Its time to add salt and sugar to taste.
  • Add the crushed peanuts and then mix nicely
  • Add the soaked sago and mix well. Let it cook for some time.
  • Once the sago is cooked well switch off the gas and serve hot.
