Lapsi Sheera

If you feel like having something sweet but at the same time healthy then this would be perfect for you... you can use sugar free as sweetening substitute... You can reduce the ghee content in it... thus making it more healthy... This dish is so fulfilling that you can have it for your breakfast also...


Ingredients:

  1. Lapsi / Broken Wheat / Dalia  --  1 cup
  2. Jaggery  --  3/4 cup
  3. Cardamom Powder  --  1/2 tsp
  4. Ghee / Clarified Butter  --  3 tbsp
  5. Cashews and Kishmish/Sultana/Dried grapes to garnish.
  6. Water  --  2 cups.
Method:
  • Soak the broken wheat or lapsi after washing it in water for about half hour.
  • Drain water from lapsi. Heat some ghee in kadai. Add the soaked lapsi in it and saute well for about 3-4 min.
  • Now add water and crushed jaggery to it and simmer the gas. Stir continuously till the jaggery dissolves.
  • Now put the lid and let the lapsi cook for sometime. After all the water is absorbed stir it continuously. 
  • At this moment add the cardamom powder rest of the ghee and some crushed nuts and kishmish to it.
  • Swith off the stove serve it hot with garnished cashews and sultanas.
