We were fed up of the usual masala chicken... with all those spices... so my mom once made this simple chicken with less masala but yet spicy and yummy... I named it orange chicken as it looked so... I will ask you to try it at least once as I'm sure you will like it 100%... less ingredient incredible taste... this dish is our masterpiece... Will like to hear your feedback after you taste this recipe... I have used coconut oil for this recipe you can use vegetable oil of your choice...
Ingredients:
- Chicken 1/2 kg
- Red Onion (medium) 1
- Tomatoes 1
- Green Chilli 1-2
- Ginger juliennes 2 tsp
- Coconut oil 2-3 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Curry Leaves to garnish.
Ingredients to be blended:
- shallots (Madras Onion) 4-5 nos.
- Red Chilli Powder 1-2 tsp.
- Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp.
Method:
- Clean and dry the chicken. Slice the onion finely, Slit the green chillies into two.
- Grind the shallots, Red Chilli powder and the turmeric powder finely.
- Marinate the Chicken with the ground masala for some time.
- Now place the kadai in the gas stove. When its oil then add about 2 tbsp of oil followed by sliced onions and slit green chillies and curry leaves. Saute well till the onions are nicely done.Now add the ginger juliennes and saute you can add a pinch of salt at this time so that the onions cook fast.
- Now add the tomatoes, and saute again.
- Next add the marinated chicken and nicely mix everything together.
- Cover the kadai with the lid add 2-3 tbsp of water if required and cook for 15- 20 min.
- Later add some more curry leaves and roast the chicken well.
- Switch Off the stove and sprinkle some raw coconut oil to the chicken.
- Serve hot with chapatis or rice.. It goes well with Lemon rice or coconut rice.
