Aloo Vada

CELEBRATING RAINFALL!!!

ITS RAINING HURRAY !!! SO ITS TIME FOR VADAS, BHAJIYAS OR SOUPS, SOMETHING HOT! FRESH! AND VERY YUMMY...


Ingredients:
  1. Boiled and smashed potatoes  --  3 medium
  2. Mustard seeds  --  1/2 tsp
  3. Jeera  --  1/2 tsp
  4. Garlic  --  3 cloves chopped
  5. Green Chillies  --  2 chopped
  6. Turmeric Powder  --  1/2 tsp
  7. Curry Leaves  --  few twigs
  8. Coriander Leaves  --  few twigs
  9. Oil for tempering
  10. Salt to taste
For Batter:
  1. Gram Flour/Besan  --  2 cup
  2. Rice Flour  --  2 tablespoon
  3. Turmeric powder  --  1/2 tsp
  4. Asafoetida  --  a pinch
  5. Chilli Powder  --  1/2 tsp
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Water to make batter.


Method:
  1. Lets make the tempering first. Heat very little oil in a small kadai and when its hot crackle mustard seeds and jeera seeds. When its crackled add the green chillies, curry leaves and fry it nicely add the garlic and fry again.
  2. Now switch off the flame and add the turmeric powder to it.
  3. Stir quickly and add to the mashed potatoes and mix nicely.
  4. Now make nice batter with the ingredients given in the list.
  5. The batter should not be too loos or too thick.
  6. Now make small ball of the tempered potato and then flatten a bit and then dip in batter and fry them in medium heat. If you want it to be more crispy then once its half fried take it out fr 2 minutes and then fry it again.
  7. When you remove the vadas keep the flame high and remove vadas serve hot with piping hot tea.
